A little bit of history

Reflexology reaches as far back to Ancient Egypt, India & China, with the oldest historical evidence being found dating back to 2500BC.  Dr William Fitzgerald introduced the therapy to the West in 1913 as "Zone Therapy". He noted that by applying pressure to the reflex areas on the feet and hands, this corresponded with other areas and organs of the body. Eunice Ingham developed this further to what we know as reflexology today and she became known as the "Mother of Reflexology".

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a holistic therapy that treats the whole person, not just the symptoms that they may be experiencing. Following illness, stress, injury or disease, the body is usually in a state of "imbalance". Vital energy pathways are blocked, preventing the body from functioning effectively. Feet are a "minimap" of the body and by applying pressure to the reflexes, a reflexologist may support the body to heal itself. The aim of reflexology is to encourage the body to work naturally to create a state of "Homeostasis" - a balancing of the body.

Who can have reflexology?

Reflexology may help to treat a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. Reflexology is suitable for all ages including babies and children.

How can I benefit from reflexology?

Reflexology may be effective both on a personal level, such as relaxation of the day-to-day stresses and strains and may bring relief to the following:

Stress & Anxiety
Back Pain
Joint Pain
Hormonal Imbalances
Headaches
Fertility issues
Digestive problems

Many people, after completing a course of treatment for a specific condition, continue with regular treatments to maintain their general health and well-being.  An increasing number of people are using this safe, natural therapy as a way of relaxing, balancing and harmonising the body.
